Described as a "haunting" melody and often thought to be traditional, this tune was actually written in 1983 by Jay Unger for use on the cd titled "Waltz of the Wind" by the band Fiddle Fever. Director Ken Burns was so moved by this tune that he used it prominently in his PBS special "The Civil War".

A traditional fiddle tune, Coleman's March is said to have been composed by Joe Coleman, who in 1899, was sentenced to hang for the death of his wife in Kentucky. It is said he played this tune on the way to the gallows and then offered his fiddle to anyone in the crowd that could play the tune.

Often thought of as a very old and widely played tune. However, this tune doesn't seem to appear anywhere prior to the 1890's gold rush in Cripple Creek, Colorado.

A very old English tune which some people attribute to King Henry VIII. Scholars, however, believe it is actually much older. William Shakespeare's play "Merry Wives of Windsor" mentions this tune by the name "Green Sleeves" twice.

Popular on both sides of the Atlantic Ocean, this delightful ditty is about a women who first blinds her husband by feeding him "Eggs and Marrowbones". Then she tries to push him over the mill's waterfall. Instead, the wife slips and is "accidentally" pushed over the waterfall by her now blind husband. Weren't those traditional marriages just grand!
